The 2019 season has started. The weather forecasts told us it would be a very cold Saturday with temperatures of 7 degrees (max) and a sharp northeast wind. For this reason we decided to play with 61 widow hens and keep the rest at home. On that Saturday, April 13, it was indeed very cold, but with nice open weather and a lot of sunshine.
At 10:30 the pigeons were released in Bierges. The first pigeon arrived like a line and landed at 12:17 on the valve. It then took a few minutes for the next hens to report themselves, but then the pigeons followed each other at a very rapid pace. We were not satisfied with the result, we started in the club with the 20th place against more than 450 pigeons (the 1st from the east side) but with a price percentage of 25% we could not really live. What was positive was the urge the hens showed when they arrived. However, they show beautifully, are covered with shiny necks and have not suffered from the 127 kilometers in the cold. We really see the sprint and middle distance as training flights so the most important thing is that the pigeons do not suffer too much and save the best for the one day long distance.
On our satellite loft Team Hooymans NL, at Christian van de Wetering in Wijk and Aalburg, the new flight name was immediately striking on the results: in the C region against 2,124 pigeons, 1-2-6-7-8-19 were started! You can call it a thunderous season opening and immediately proof that the Hooymans pigeons can distinguish themselves in all disciplines, from sprint to long distance races. 1st of 2,124 pigeons comes from “Blue Brave” x daughter of “New Harry” x “Olympic Cape” (Mantel) 2nd of 2,124 pigeons comes from son “Strong Trilboy x Stareye” x daughter “New Harry” 6th of 2,124 pigeons comes from “Harry Junior” x “Daughter Blue Brave” Below the pedigree of the 1st pigeon:
