Pont St. Maxence and Toury at the 1st of June

5 June 2019

The past weekend was a sort of ‘in-between weekend’ for us, a middle-distance flight between the middle-distance flights. Because we prefer to keep the pigeons going and because the prediction for Pont St Maxence was a southwest wind, we decided to just play both day-long distance cocks and day-long distance hens and we basketed 105 beautifully pumped athletes.

Of course we would not participate for the top prizes and that was also shown in the result. In the region against 2,700 pigeons we start 92nd and we win 29 prizes from 105 pigeons (28%). Given the race time it was not a normal flight and we are happy that all pigeons are back on Apple, although the result is not great. The pigeons, however, have not suffered anything and can now work well towards Bourges from 8 June, for which a strong tail wind is predicted.

Our first pigeon last Saturday was a cock from 2017, from “Son Harry” x “Sister Esmee” (Elzinga).
The second pigeon was also a cock of 2017 from the “400” (Harrie Kennes) x “Daughter Harry”.
The third pigeon was a hen and came directly from “New Harry”.

We basketted the long distance pigeons for the ZLU flights last weekend in Hank for the Toury flight (468km). These pigeons were also great and have a good number of hours flying in the wings, and last weekend also had to deal with high temperatures. Certainly good for the experience of the yearlings in particular. This weekend we will basket most (more than 100) at NPO Bourges, so we will start with a large group of pigeons on 8 June. The long distance pigeons will not win many prizes but it is purely for the experience that we do. Then we want to give them short flights for a few weeks and prepare them for Agen ZLU.
