It is now widely known that John Crehan (Team Hooymans UK) can deal with pigeons. In 2017 he represented his country with no less than 2 Olympiad pigeons, “Olympic Jan” and “Olympic Janette”, both pigeons bred by Jan Hooymans. In 2018 he won the 1st National Ancenis in England against 5,160 pigeons in 710 kilometers with “Solo Warrior” (grandchild of Young Bliksem x Dirkje). It was a true feat, because “Solo Warrior” was John’s only manned pigeon!
But the cake is not over yet, because there was also the NL16-1663197 “Blue Rose”.
A beautiful bold blue hen, also bred by Jan Hooymans and a direct daughter of “Beauty Boy” (brother Harry) coupled with an inbred Cannibal hen (via Herman Pouw). As a yearling “Blue Rose” won:
1st Tewkesbury against 311 pigeons 3rd Tewkesbury against 946 pigeons 4th Yeovil against 1,571 pigeons These are short middle distance distances.
In 2018, however, John saw that the weather was good for her, and he decided to play her in the long distance. He used “Blue Rose” successively on Poitiers (833 kilometers) and Tarbes (1191 kilometers). At Poitiers she won the 3rd in the Sector and 98th Open National and at Tarbes Blue Rose wins the 5th in the Sector National Zone and was the 1st in the Lancashire & Yorkshire club! Partly due to this ultimate effort, “Blue Rose” became the 1st Ace Bird RPRA Award Winner Long Distance and also the 2nd National Ace Bird RPRA Long Distance!
“Blue Rose” 2nd Nat Acebird LD RPRA
What a powerhouse, of course super accompanied by John. Again proof that our stock couple Jonge Bliksem x Dirkje can easily breed pigeons that can even win top prizes even above 1,000 kilometers.
