Saturday April 16th was already the 2nd flight of 2016 on the program, this time from Quievrain, a 190 km race for us. There was a strong southwest wind, not our favorite wind, but that aside.
At 9:15 was unloaded our region, within 132 warriors from us. As expected, the pigeons were fly over 100 km / h and arrived after flying a spacious 1.5 hours. The speeds were well over 1800 mpm. Our pigeons didnt came quick inside and that resulted in the fact that we in the club in 18th place started against 425 pigeons. It didn’t reflects in our eyes the condition of the pigeons because it is top order, but the real focus is not yet on our racing team. Fortunately not, because it takes a little while for the middle distance season starts.
Teammember Christian van de Wetering won in our club the prices 1 to 5 against 425 pigeons, and his first pigeon clocked was a blue hen, a direct Hooymans called “Blue Lily”. She wins in her short career already 3x 1: 100 with two first prizes (1x headwind and now with high speed). Her father is a half brother Harry and her mother a daughter of “James Bond”. Twice the “Jonge Bliksem” in the pedigree.
John Crehan also has two great weeks in England with his Hooymans pigeons, more about that later on this week…
