FINALE RACE “MILLION DOLLAR RACE” – South Africa
On January 24, the final was raced from the South Africa Million Dollar Pigeon Race, or the SAMDPR.
A total of 2453 birds (of which 167 Dutch pigeons) discharged at a distance of 521 kilometers. Along the way they had to contend with rising (very high) temperatures and headwind. Jan Hooymans and Mario Bambacht of the Hooymans Team, were present to see the Hooymansbirds coming home live.
However, the first day there were only 16 (+ 1 unactivated) pigeons over the finish line. Hereby, the “Peterle” by Jan Hooymans – Hu Zhen Yu. This pigeon won the 14th prize FINALE SAMDPR (521km). “Peterle” is, moreover, a full sister to the 14/242, a young promise which flew the 1st in the club on Quievrain (and 7th against 12,802 pigeons!). From fatherside, Peterle comes from “Mr. Dolce “, from the best of Pieter Veenstra (Dolce Vita, Chanel No.5). Mother of Peterle is our “Doutzen” a mighty hen which won herself a 10th NPO Chateauroux. “Doutzen” is a full sister of “Harry” and comes directly from the Stam Couple “”Jonge Bliksem” x “Dirkje”.
The next day, January 25, at 05:48 was already at home the “Woodhouse 8” by Jan Hooymans – Hu Zhen Yu. This meant a nice 19th place in the final. This top pigeon is a grandchild of the ‘Harry’ and ‘Cassius’ (Koopman). With this achievement was the “Woodhouse 8” the 4th fastest Dutch pigeon.
To 8:32 was the “Catman Wilson” Team Hooymans and this was a nice 83 rating, neatly within the top100. In this pigeon we see predominantly long distance lines. Father is the “Etienne” (Brother from Marseilles, Etienne Meirlaen, coupled with a full sister to Harry). Mother is “Marilene” a direct daughter of “Don Michel” x “Diamantje” two supercracks of Cor de Heijde. The “Catman Wilson” was 9th fastest Dutch pigeon.
The Hooymans birds won against 2.453 birds the following prizes: 14-19-83-130-163-206-231-243-244-277-278-279-301-404-533-588-637-662-768. Against 167 Dutch pigeons, the Hooymans birds won the following prizes: 3-4-9-13-15-18-20-21-22-24-25-26-29-33!!
